As the name Kovalam suggests, this area of Trivandrum city of Kerala really is a ‘grove of coconut trees’. From a local fishing area to one of the most important tourist destinations in India, Kovalam has guided lakhs of tourists yearly with its lighthouse beach alone.
When upon the nephew of Maharani Sethu Lakshmi Bayi, the Maharaja of Travancore brought their beach house namely Halcyon Castle into the limelight, the Britishers recognized the place as a potential tourist destination. The castle is full of the Travancore’s traditionally detailed architecture and a sight to behold.
The beauty in this region does not only make for a picturesque beach but the water sports offered by it add tonnes of thrills to the same. Each beach has something unique, special to offer and a brilliant lot to shop. The speed boat safari is an experience that everyone cherishes for life.
All its low-tidal beaches are flooded with resorts and have a great amount of Ayurveda treatments to offer. Not only in forms of medicines but spas and massages, too, right in the lap of nature.
About six kilometers from Kovalam is one famous freshwater lake, Velliyani. Being spread over an area of seven acres, it’s water makes for most of the drinking and irrigation in the nearby regions.
With its splendid beauty, uniqueness, and variety, Kovalam does not only offer itself as a place to retire and rest but also as an adventurous along with its meditational medications in the Ayurveda.
