Lloyd Botanical Garden
Lloyd’s Botanical Garden, Darjeeling witnessed its establishment in the year 1878. The garden was then established in 40 acres (160,000 m2) of land gifted by William Lloyd, in whose name the botanical garden has been named.
The garden is famed for holding numerous species of plants and trees, especially the species of bamboo, oak, magnolia, Arisaema, cotoneaster, wild geranium, and rhododendron. The main attraction here is the collection of native Orchids from the Singalila Ridge.
This garden serves as a treasure of knowledge and collectible for the students and research workers in Botany. The garden also supplies the saplings and the seeds to numerous other institutes across the country to keep the species safe from extinguishing.
