Himalayan Tibet Museum
Himalayan Tibet Museum is a relatively younger museum opened on 2nd July 2015 by revered Tibetan guru Gurung Tulku Nima Hoiser Rinpoche. Gandhi Road, Darjeeling is adorned with this beautiful and highly revered museum.
The museum showcases the history, tradition, religion, and culture of the Tibetan community and the Himalayan Belt.
The museum is constructed beautifully with exquisite wooden works on the ceiling and over the walls. It makes a unique place to be visited to know more about the Tibetan community, their culture, and their lifestyle. The ones interested in learning about this community will find it a great place.
The museum holds many artifacts, including those donated by Dalai Lama. The main attractions being the statue of Buddha, diamond sutra text which is written in golden colored ink, prayer bells, portraits of eminent Tibetologists like Alexander Csoma De Koros, Sarat Chandra Das, Gendun Chopel and George Nicolas De Roerich, a replica of Potala Palace, seats of Dalai Lama, etc.
