Everest Museum
Everest Museum, Darjeeling as the name suggests collects the history of the attempts made to explore this mountain. The museum is housed within the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute complex.
One can see the repertoire on Everest climbing right from 1852. Mt. Everest or peak XV as it was formerly known has seen many successful and unsuccessful expeditions to measure its height. The museum tends to acknowledge all those efforts and the courage of the climbers.
One can also find reports on Indian surveyor, Radhanath Sikdhar here and rare collection of photographs, books, and letters pertaining to the Everest expedition.
Nearby is the Mountaineering Museum to be visited.
