Coronation Bridge
The Coronation Bridge in Darjeeling district of West Bengal also known as the Sevoke Bridge is a mighty bridge that spans across the Teesta River. The bridge connects the districts of Darjeeling and Jalpaiguri and the National Highway 31 runs across it.
John Anderson, the then Governor of Bengal in 1937 initiated the work for this beautiful bridge. The bridge was given its name to commemorate the coronation of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth in 1937. This marvelous structure was completed in 1941 with a cost of Rs 4 lakhs.
The bridge is also famous by the Baghpool among the locals. There are statues of Lion on the entrance of the bridge. It is one of the must-visit places at Darjeeling to adore the works of the engineers and has an aerial view of the stunning Teesta river.
