Darjeeling

Darjeeling is an important city and a municipality of West Bengal, India. This beautiful city is tucked in the Lesser Himalayas at an elevation of 6,700 ft (2,042.2 m) and is noted for its tea industry, its views of Kangchenjunga mountain (world’s third-highest mountain), and the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway (a UNESCO World Heritage Site).

Darjeeling tops the country in selling tea globally. The exotic black tea developed here at Darjeeling makes its name in the international market as well. The city also is famed for its steam locomotive which has been disappeared from the major part of the world. The city gives a chance to enjoy the vintage steam-driven trains.

Rice, noodles and potatoes make up the dominant part of the Darjeeling cuisine partly due to the cold climate. Don’t forget tasting Thukpa here, which is of Tibetan origins.
