Jivaka’s Mango Garden

The Amphawan temple or the  “mango garden” holds a very important in the Buddhist religion. The garden belonged to Doctor Jivaka Kumar Bhaccha, the Ayurveda master, who was the personal doctor of the Buddha. The doctor was also the grandmaster of Thai traditional medicine. The place holds importance as Buddha was once cured here of his injuries occurred from the rock chip hitting his foot. The place used to be a dispensary then, which was later on converted into a mango garden by Jivaka. He then gifted it to Buddha and sangha. One can see the ruin of Amphawan temple here. Thousands of Buddhists visit here every year to pay respect to their holy Lord Buddha.
