Griddhakuta Peak
Vulture peak aka Griddhakuta is another yet important place to be visited at Rajgir. The place holds religious importance for Buddhists. Buddhists believe that here Shakyamuni Buddha or the Gautama Buddha preached for many years. The place as its name indicates is located atop a hillock, on the outskirts Rajgir. Griddhakuta is also a popular sightseeing location tucked at an altitude of 400 m giving a bird’s eye view of the surrounding. The name, Vulture’s Peak arrived from the resemblance of the peak shape to the bird vulture and also its frequent sighting here.
