Sirpur heritage site
Sirpur heritage site dates back to 5th to 12th century and houses Buddhists, Hindu, and Jain temples. The place got its fame after the constant excavations of the ancient temples that were excellent architectural marvel in themselves. The most famous temple amongst all is the Laxman Temple, which is considered to be the first brick temple of the country. The temple commences fare every year in January (on Makar Sankranti) when hundreds of people from all over the state pay a visit.
This place has achieved much popularity due to the excavated ancient temples and sculptures. Apart from visiting the main temple, you can also see numerous nearby temples, a museum holding excavated sculptures and the riverside. Local people often flock here for the weekend gateway or school picnics and also as the educational trips.
