Sao Joao Festival

The feast of St. John the Baptist is celebrated by young men all over Goa by jumping into wells to retrieve gifts thrown in by villagers. The Sao Joao festival is mostly celebrated by the Catholic community.Sao Joao Festival, like any other Goan feast has that captivating spirit , colour and tradition. People dressed up  in colourful outfits from every villages meet near a pond or stream front of carnival-coloured boats and floats. It is akin to the Carnival in quite ways.
