The place of historical and religious importance, Kurukshetra, is a small yet important city in the state of Haryana, India. The depiction of the place in the sacred Hindu epics makes it a revered Hindu pilgrimage. It is believed that the famous and the grand war between the Kauravas and the Pandavas happened here, and also, Krishna recited Bhagavad Gita to Arjuna here. The holy city sees its mythological and historical names as Brahmakshetra (Land of Brahma), Uttaradevi, Brahmadevi,  Dharamkshetra (The Holy City), Thanesar or Sthaneswar.  Another interesting fact about Kurukshetra was revealed after the excavations that proved that this place existed even before the Harappan civilization. The place has seen its frequent mentioning in the numerous historic books and epics, thus proving the importance of this place in ancient times.
