Nalanda : Kundalpur Digambar Jain temple
One of the important Jain pilgrimage at Nalanda is Shri Kundalpur Digambar Jain Teerth Kshetra. Jainis consider it to be the sacred place of Bhagwan Mahaveer’s Garbha, Janma & Tapa Kalyanaka. The temple houses a stunning idol of Bhagwan Mahaveer in a Padmasana posture. The idol is 4½ feet in height and all white. One can see an ancient umbrella and foot images of Bhagwan outside this holy temple. Apart from the main temple are 5 more temples on the campus. They too are of great importance and holds many uniques to be seen.
One can find a huge ‘Keerti Stambha’ with 8 idols of Bhagwan Mahaveer in one of the temple. Also to see is a beautiful pictorial depiction of 16 dreams seen by ‘Rani Trishala’ – the mother of Bhagwan Mahaveer and foot images of her. One can also find the foot images of ‘Gautam Ganadhara’ – the chief Ganadhara of Bhagwan Mahaveer printed over an umbrella here. One can also find the foot images of great ‘Acharya Bhatta Akalanka Dev’. Apart from these is an art gallery having a great collection of pictures & photos related to Bhagwan Mahaveer. The temple sees thousands of the Mahaveer followers visiting here every year. Festivals- The temple commences grand gathering on the Janmotsava of Bhagwan Mahaveer (Annual Fair) at Chaitra Shukla 12 to 14.
