Balsamand Lake

Balsamand Lake is an artificial lake situated 5 km from the city of Jodhpur on Jodhpur-Mandore Road. The lake is thought to be constructed in 1159 AD by Gurjara-Pratihara ruler Balak Rao Parihar as a water reservoir for the needs of Mandore.

The lake runs a km long, having a breadth of 50 m and a depth of 15 m. Accompanying the lake are the mango, papaya, pomegranate, guava and plum trees. Many wild residents also find their way near the lake. Also nearby is a 5star hotel which was once a summer palace of the royals.
