Shigmotsav is popularly known as Shigmo, this is a 5 day festival celebrated as Goa’s answer to Holi, a festival of colours. Huge dance troupes perform intricate movements of folk dances on the road al In through the length of the parade on Shigmotsav. Though the grand celebrations place on 18th June Road in Panaji, the festival is celebrated on a lesser scale at Ponda, Vasco, Margao and Mapusa.
From the 11th to the 15th moon , villagers dress up in colourful dresses and celebrates with a festive mood along with multi-coloured flags, beating traditional and blowing flutes to get together at the village temples. Everyone dance and sing various folk songs in the temple yard to the beat of the drums.
