Jungle Scout

Jungle Scout in Thekkady is a regular night patrolling programme in the fringes of the Eco-development zone of the Tiger Reserve in the company of armed guards between 7 pm and 4 am (7pm-10,10-1am,1-4am). This programme injects excitement into the experience while keeping smugglers at bay. One really feels like a cop protecting the precious forest wealth. Of course, these best suits younger visitors fit and disciplined enough to walk in the silence of the night.

This programme providing a rare opportunity to observe some of the rare night life of Periyar Tiger reserve, such as civets, mouse deer, flying squirrel and various nocturnal bird species at their silent best. visitors will also be contributing directly to protecting the buffer zone and fringe areas of the reserve, as they travel in the company of forest watchers and trained guides.Visitors intended to participate in this programme are expected to have good level of physical and mental fitness required for travelling through the wilderness at night.

Programme description in brief:

•  Guided, night-time trekking(3 hours)
•  Group size: Two groups of six people each, at three time slots/night @Rs. 750/- per person (Minimum Rs. 1500/- per trip).
•  Only children of 12 years and above are allowed to participate in the above programme.
•  Bookings are confirmed against 100% payment. Ticket rates do not include Entrance fees.0.
