Submarine Museum

INS Kursura Submarine Museum is one of the most prominent highlights of Rama Krishna (RK) Beach’s tourism located at a distance of about 6 km from the Vizag Railway Station, in Andhra Pradesh. This magnificent museum attracts tourists with its elegance. It preserves the glory and grandeur of the INS Kursura in its original in exact form, which was the Indian Navy’s 5th submarine that also took part in the 1971 Indo-Pakistan War. This museum is Asia’s first and worldwide second submarine that is turned into a gallery( a museum).

The museum has exhibits, photographs, and artifacts that convey the stories of courage, endurance, dedication, sacrifice, and nationalism of Indian Naval warriors. This museum will give you an insight into the hardships and challenges that are faced while surviving underwater with limited resources and space. This museum was inaugurated on the 14th of August in the year 2002.

Before being decommissioned in 2001, the INS Kurusura served the Indian Navy for 31 years. Afterward, this museum was used to raise public awareness about the Indian Navy, its technology and growth in India. The submarine’s interior was reorganized to give visitors a clear understanding and a better view.

The beach complements the Submarine Museum with its beautiful landscape of golden sands and crystal blue waters. Enthusiasts who want to learn more about the lifestyle and architecture of submarines are the ones who frequently visit it. You must visit this museum to learn as well as to reinvigorate a feeling of pride and patriotism for our country and its heroes who have battled and even lost their lives to achieve independence for all of us.
