RK Beach

Ramakrishna Beach is one of Vizag’s alluring beaches that attract every tourist that visits the town. It is also among the most popular beaches and is more commonly known as RK beach. Municipal Corporation of Visakhapatnam (MCV) and the Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority (VUDA) are jointly responsible for developing the beach.  It attracts the tourists of all the ages, the young and old alike.

RK beach is a long and spectacular beach and the Coromandal Coast continuation that lays on the Bay of Bengal and is located at about a distance of 4 km from Vizag Railway Station. From the Ramakrishna Mission Ashram located near the beach, RK Beach gets its name. The beach delivers a beautiful view of the countryside with its idyllic waters and refreshing environment. The sunset view from this beach is fascinating and on this beautiful beach, you can find all sorts of people enjoying some pleasant and leisurely moments while enjoying the picturesque view.

Camel rides can be enjoyed on the golden sands of this beach. Several boats and ships are operating on one side of the shore and you can go for a ride in the typical fishing boat set up by the local fishermen. Angling in the deep sea is another significant activity that is carried out on traditional fishing boats. A local cruise can also be taken to enjoy the beautiful view at the beach. Owing to its scenic beauty; RK Beach has become a favorite place for joggers, tourists, swimmers, photographers, and strollers.

The RK Beach is always given greater importance to Visakha Utsav, the district’s annual festival. Also, Andhra University conducts special beach research projects to save the Sea Tortoises during their breeding seasons. The beach is famous for sunbathing, beach volleyball as well as water surfing. It also offers various other types of water activities to the visitors and houses the INS Kursura Submarine Museum and TU-142 Aircraft Museum. The War Memorial on the beach was designed to commemorate the veterans of the 1971 war named the ‘ Victory at Sea. ‘
