Pareshnath Jain Temple
One of the sacred Jain shrines at Kolkata is the holy Pareshnath Jain temple. The temple worships Shitalnath Ji, the 10th Jain Tirthankar and Pareshnath, the 23rd Jain Tirthankar. There are four other temples also inside the complex, dedicated to other holy Jain preachers. Apart from the Jain devotees, the temple attracts lots of tourists visiting Kolkata because of its scenic beauty and fine architecture. The holy shrine is ornamented with finely crafted statues worth appreciating everywhere. The temple looks brilliant when lit with the sparkling lights and the sprinkles of the water fountains. One can be mesmerized to see the idol of Lord Shitalnath Ji having a diamond-studded forehead. The prime attraction of the temple is the holy lamp in the sanctum sacrum, which is believed to be burning since 1867. The atmosphere here is so divine, that is sure to keep every visitor surprised. Festivals- The temple commences grand celebration and gathering on Paryushan during the Bhadrav month.
