Bhowanipore Cemetery
It may be disturbing to find a cemetery in the tourist places of a city. But the Bhowanipore Cemetery has emerged out as a popular tourist place since the last decades.
The cemetery is enclosed within a mighty wall. It holds importance because it contains the graves of the people died during world war I and II. The cemetery has been sectioned into two plots, one containing the graves of the civilians and the other housing graves of the servicemen.
This war Cemetery contains 95 Commonwealth burials of the First World War, 617 graves from the Second World War and 233 non-war burials in the cemetery.
The place can be visited to pay homage to the courageous people who gave away their life to serve the country and its people.
