Muchalinda Lake

Besides the main temple in Bodhgaya is a special relishing place to visit- The Muchalinda Lake. The lake is important from the religious and tourism point of view as well. People believe that, on his days of achieving enlightenment, when Lord Buddha was meditating, a disturbance was created in the lake to distract him. But it was comforted by Muchalinda or the snake to keep Lord Buddha to continue with his meditation. The lake in its center holds a sculpture of hood protecting Lord Buddha, who is meditating on a snake coil. Buddhist devotees are found relaxing under the lakeside and enjoying the serenity and tranquility of the place. On the boundary of the lake are tales inscribe in the rocks which attract every tourist.
