Great Buddha Statue
Bodhgaya holds a very popular tourist place and also a place of religious importance- Great Buddha Statue. The giant statue is 80-foot-tall and depicts lord Buddha in meditating posture over a lotus. It is said that the construction of this giant structure took seven years and 120,000 masons to complete. The foundation stone was laid in 1982 beside the Mahabodhi Temple of Bodhgaya, a renowned Buddhist pilgrimage. The statue was unveiled by the 14th Dalai Lama in November 1989.
