Thai Monastery
Thai Monastery of Bodhgaya is the only Thai temple in India. It was built by a Monarch of Thailand in 1956. The construction of the temple was by the efforts of the then Indian Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, to strengthen relations of the two countries and also to spread the teachings of Buddha in India. The attraction of the temple is its Sloping and curved roof, which is covered with golden tiles. The temple is an excellent example of Thai architecture. The holy temple holds a sculpted 25-meter-high statue of Lord Buddha with his hair tied in a bun. The whole of the temple is decorated with images and carvings of Buddha in different forms. The place is considered too sacred among the Buddhists.
