Kukkal Caves, Kodaikanal

The caves as the name indicates, the rock shelters, in Kodaikanal are very exciting place to visit. You can go trekking, almost 6200 feet above the sea level to explore the history of Palaiyar tribe, that once used to dwell here.

The caves are awful, with hangings of metamorphic rocks, or more specifically, granulite and charconite. Apart from the caves, there is a temple to visit. The temple has old handcrafted paintings of the tribal people. Special permission needs to be taken before trekking at this area.
