Travel for 41 km from Kodaikanal, to reach Palani, an important pilgrim center for Hindus. The place holds the prestige of being one among the padi veedu for Lord Muruga. The ancient religious stories say a lot about the importance of this place. The stories depict that the place derived its name from the Lord Muruga’s name- Pazham Nee, which he received from Lord Shiva & Goddess Uma Devi. The Hills of Palani holds a sacred temple of Pazhaniandavar, which is nearly 1400 feet above the sea level. The temple gives a beautiful view of the surrounding Idumban Hill, the Kodaikanal Hills, the rivers flowing around Palani, the greenfields and even the Kurinjiandavar temple in Kodaikanal hills.
