Bheemili Beach
Situated on the mouth of the river Gosthani, in the Indian province of Andhra Pradesh, Bheemunipatnam, otherwise referred to as ‘ Bhimlipatam ‘ or ‘ Bheemili ‘ is situated 24 km from Visakhapatnam (Vizag) city. The beach of Bheemli offers a charming coastline to the fishing city of Bheemunipatnam, India’s second most formed region.
The region of Bheemli when formed used to cover the cabins and antique Dutch cottages. These cabins and cottages are a symbol of remarkable history. A Dutch graveyard of the sixteenth century is located here which affirms the circumstances and the presence of the Old Dutch in this region.
Another attraction on the shoreline is an old 18th-century lighthouse which attracts a lot of crowd at this Bheemli Beach. This lighthouse assists and guides boats and ships even today. There is also a concrete path along the beach of Bheemli that houses the statues of Buddha, the Five Pandavas, and that of a dinosaur. This beach also served as the trading ports of the East India Company and the Dutch East India Company.
In comparison to rocky beaches in Vizag city, this beach is considered to be safer for the swimmers. It is also the location of the remains of the oldest Dutch settlement on the east coast from the 17th century. The journey from the city of Vizag (Vishakhapatnam) is incredible and exhilarating. You can also go further after enjoying the beach to visit the Clock Tower and to explore and experience the main market in the region of Bheemli.
