Kondakarla Ava
Kondakarla Ava is a famous lake and bird sanctuary which is located towards south at a distance of about 50 km- 60 km from Visakhapatnam city in the state of Andhra Pradesh. Kondakarla Ava used to be a common picnic spot for Vizianagaram kings and British officers before India acquired independence. This place has a beautiful freshwater lake nestled in the foothills of Eastern Ghats. Coconut trees and lush greenery frames this place from all sides.
This natural freshwater lake is home to many birds. You can also spot few rare and exotic species of the birds here. This is one of the best and main sites for photographers who are interested in bird photography. Also if you love and enjoy bird watching then this is a must-visit for you in the state. It is also recognized as an Eco-Tourism destination.
Almost about the twenty-one villages throughout the state of Andhra Pradesh are believed to be supported by this lake through the Sarada River. Rich aquatic biodiversity can be seen around the lake, like lotus and other such aquatic plants. In and around the lake live about 100 bird species and 25 species of fishes. On the other hand, there is also a temple of Lord Venkateswara above the hill. The view from the hill is the reason you should definitely climb it.
If you want to spot the migratory birds, then ideally the cooler month of November to February is considered to be the best time for visiting. Furthermore, the cool weather makes it so much easier and enjoyable to spend quality time on the lakeside.
