Velliyangiri

The Velliangiri Mountains are the significant part of the Western Ghats border at Coimbatore district. The mountains offer some of the best treks one can explore. The mountains house a Siva Temple. it is a 6 feet wide cave temple, holding a swayambumurthi. Lord Shiva graces the devotees here as Pancha-Five Lingas.

These mighty mountains are also known by the name “Thenkailayam”,  meaning- Kailash of the South. ” These mountain range holds seven hills. It is popular belief here that Mother Sita performed penance on Lord Shiva at the fifth hill here. February to May sees the maximum number of trekkers as it offers optimum climatic condition and a stunning view at the same time. The hill is the home to many medicinal herbs, People believe that praying here will cure their serious diseases.
