Ulakkai Aruvi Waterfalls

Located at Azhagiapandipuram village in Kanyakumari, Ulakkai Aruvi makes one of the most sort out waterfall destination of the state. The waterfall is accompanied by the Kalakkad Wildlife Sanctuary and thus attracts tourist all year round. Ulakkai Aruvi is also popular as Rod Falls. The river of Pazhayar makes this beautiful waterfall. Ulakkai means Pestle and Aruvi means Falls in Tamil. The fall got this name because of its Pestle like look from long distance. The waterfall does not dry up in the summer and thus keeps attracting tourists all the year long. The river makes two escapes from the mainland and thus makes two falls. The heights of the falls are calculated to be about 50 feet. The higher fall can be reached by climbing the slope for about 200 meters and the lower fall to demands trekking for some distance to reveal its true beauty.
