Thirukkalukundram (Pakshitheertham)

Among the best Indian religious places is the Thirukkazhukundram, also known as pakshi theertham and asulagalantha sozhapuram. Pakdhi theertham sees its place in Kanchipuram district of Tamil Nadu state.
The place houses some of the popular religious sites like the hill temple and Sangu theertham.
- Hill temple or Lord Shri Vedhagireeshwarar Temple in Pakshi theertham holds many unsaid and secretive stories. the place is mostly flocked by the saints for the peaceful and serene environment it provides for their religious rituals.
The temple holds the shrines for the deities- Brahma, Vishnu and goddess ‘Sokkammal nayagi’. - On the way to the hills comes a rock-cut temple, made up all of a single rock only. The temple was built by Mahendra Varman and is now an archaeological property.
- Sangu Theertham in Pakshi theertham is named so as Sangu or couch comes out and float over the water of the tank located in the temple. The water of the tank has medicinal properties and can cure many fatal diseases.
- Bakthavachaleshwar Temple in Pakshi theertham is another important Hindu pilgrim, which was built in 400-436BC. by the Pallavas. The temple covers the wide area of ten acres and has the Pancha bhootha sthalas(five elements temples) at a single place. The temple worships the five elements- Wind-kalathinathar, Fire-anna malyar, Earth-ekambaranathar, Space-natarajar, and Water-jalakanteswarar. The temple also worships goddess Thirupurasundari ammal or ‘pennin nallal’.
- Rudhrakoteeshwar Temple in Pakshi theertham is also one of the important and sacred Hindu temples. The temple worships Lord Shiva in the form of Rudra.
