Lakshmi Narasimha Temple – Singiri Koil

Travel for 21 km from Vellore Town Railway Station to reach Singiri Koil, where the famous Hindu temple-  Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple is located. The holy temple worships Lord Narasimha, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu. The temple calls the devotees on foot as it is located over a small hillock which is about 80 feet high. The temple houses inscriptions around the sanctum sanctorum, which are calculated to be of 8th century. The temple is thought to be constructed by Rajavarman, a rank holder of the state. The idol of the lord is as high as 6feet with the lord in the sitting posture, having his consort Goddess Laxmi on his lap. The temple also worships Lord Anjaneya as Sri Bala Anjaneya, whose idol is one foot high. Bala Anjaneya is worshipped as a child and believed to have special blessings for the childless parents who are wishing for parenthood. Sri Garuda also sits in a separate shrine inside the temple. Festivals- The temple commences annual gathering during Narasimha Jayanthi, Vaikunta Ekadasi & Ratha Sapthami.
