Parambikulam Wildlife Sanctuary, Near Palakkad

Travel for 91 km from Palakkad or 96 Kms from Coimbatore, to reach the famous Parambikulam Wildlife Sanctuary. UNESCO is looking to list this wildlife sanctuary as a World Heritage Site. The sanctuary covers a vast area of 285 Sq. Kms, and sees its place adjacent to the Indira Gandhi Wildlife Sanctuary in Tamil Nadu. The sanctuary houses numerous animals and birds. There are numerous species of plants and trees too. One can spot elephants, wild boar, sambar, gaur, crocodiles, tigers and panthers in this sanctuary. To make an entry for the jungle safari, one needs to report at Anappadi, where the permissions are granted. One can also go for trekking under proper supervision here.
