Manimuthar Dam and Falls
Travel for 45 km from Tirunelveli to reach the beautiful Manimuthar Dam. This dam is one amongst the largest dams in Tirunelveli district. The dam was constructed in 1957 across the Manimuthar River, which is a major tributary of Thamirabarani. On the backdrop of the Dam lies the beautiful Podhigai Hills and Thamirabarani River. The Dam can store water up to 118 feet. The picturesque view of the location makes this place an ideal weekend gateway. Activities to do here- Walk over the dam, go boating, spend some time in the associated garden, visit nearby Manimuthar Falls. 6 kilometers from Manimuthar Dam lies the Manimuthar Falls. The water from Manimuthar River cascades down from a height of 25 feet to form this beautiful fall. The water from fall sinks into a pond that is measured to be 90 feet deep. The place is often flocked by the people visiting the Dam. Bathing is not allowed here as the pond is deep. Manimuthar Falls Entry fee: Rs. 25/Person. Cabers fee- Rs 25.
