The Koodal Alagar Temple is a holy shrine dedicated to Lord Vishnu. It holds the prestige of being one among the 108 Divyadesams of Lord Vishnu. The temple names Koodal Azhagar meaning Madhurai and beautiful one respectively. The god and Goddess (Vishnu and Laxmi) are referred to as the beautiful couple looking upon the city of Madhurai.

The temple is a beautiful one, holding the Dravidian style of architecture and believed to be built by the Pandyas. The temple covers 2.5 acres of sacred land and sees thousands of pilgrims all year round. The temple is decorated all over by beautiful carvings and sculptures. There are three statues of Lord Vishnu in different postures, which is rare to find anywhere else.
