Indira Gandhi Zoological Park

Indira Gandhi Zoological Park is a beautiful location in the middle of the Eastern Ghats and it belongs to the Kambalakonda Forest Reserve. It is located at a distance of about 10 km from the Vizag Railway Station. It serves as a shelter for about eighty different animal species distributed over a 625-acre area and is one of Andhra Pradesh’s largest zoological centers. The Bay of Bengal is located nearby, making it a perfect place to research flora and fauna directly next to one another. This is an exciting place to visit and explore for the young ones and the older ones alike.

There are separate areas for various animal species such as mammals, reptiles, primates, birds, carnivores, ungulates, etc. This destination is home to a wide range of animals. To spread awareness about all of these majestic creatures, the walls are adorned with pictures and details. There is also a dedicated space for moths and butterflies.

The flora of the Eastern Ghats surrounding this place from the three sides with the Bay of Bengal from the other complements the animal’s life here perfectly. The zoological park is located in Andhra Pradesh State and is named after India’s former Prime Minister, Mrs. Indira Gandhi. On May 19, 1977, the park was inaugurated and its gates were opened for the visitors. This place is one of the regularly visited tourist spots in the city of Vizag. Inside the park, there are vehicles available to travel around and have a view of all of its premises. Also nearby the canteen, there is a library and a learning center (Biosphere).
