White Elephant Tooth Rocks
The Salem district near Yercaud houses a unique formation of nature, The White Elephant Tooth Rocks. These are the two white rocks, which are said to be the remnants of a meteorite fallen to the earth centuries ago. These are the only white pieces of rocks found in this hill, among all black granite overall. The bigger one is located on the southern part of Shevaroy hillside near Guntur and the other one which is comparatively smaller, makes its place in the east overlooking the Ghat road, above the 60 feet bridge. The bigger rock comprises a set of two rocks, which are about 120 feet high and consists of pure white quartz. These rocks can be seen from the Tipperary Viewpoint. The climbing to this rock gives a unique experience as you may feel the material slipping beneath your feet.
