Tipu Sultan’s Mosque

The Tipu Sultan Shahi Mosque located at 185 Dhartamtalla Street is a famous mosque of Kolkata. The mosque stands as a legendary structure, architectural marvel and the cultural heritage of the city. The mosque holds importance in the hearts of every citizen of the city be it of any religion.

The famed mosque was said to be built by Prince Ghulam Mohammed, the youngest son of Tipu Sultan, in 1832. The mosque has four mighty minarets on the sides and the central tomb is huge. There are regular prayers held in the mosques and it sees great gatherings during the months of Ramzan.
