Thirukkadaiyur
The Nagapattinam district in Tamil Nadu sees one more religious yet important place named- Thirukkadaiyur. The village sees its place close to the Bay of Bengal and the Cauvery River.
Amritaghateswarar – Abirami temple is the chief religious place that attracts thousands of tourists from across the country every year. The temple is also famous by the name Vilvaaranyam. It holds three holy water tanks namely, Amrita Pushkarini, Kaala Theertham, and Maarkandeya Theertham. Devotees take a holy dip in these tanks. This temple is thought to be built in the 11th century AD by the Chola kings.
The temple covers the holy land of about 11 acres and reflects the great architecture. Inclusions of the temple are five prakarams, huge towers, and wide mandapams. The temple also houses a Mayanam, which means crematorium in the Tamil language, which is a strange thing about a Hindu temple. Apart from this, one can opt for local sightseeing and viewpoints.
