Thirukandiyur
Travel for 12 km from Thanjavur to reach the famous temple town of Thirukandiyur. The most popularly known temple of the town is the Hara Sapavimochana Kandeswarar Temple. This temple shows an excellent work of Dravidian style of architecture and possesses a three-tiered Rajagopuram. The presiding deity of the temple- Shri Hara Sapavimochana Perumal can be seen in standing posture in the sanctum sanctorum.
The temple also holds separate shrines for Goddess Kamalavalli, Lord Narasimhar, Sudharsanar, Andal, and the Azhwars. The temple also worships Lord Shiva as Kandeswarar. The place holds the prestige of being a Trimoorthy Sthalam as it holds idols of shiva, Brahma and Goddess Saraswathi. The temple holds many religious stories behind its existence. Festivals- The temple commences grand celebration on The Brahmotsavam festival, which falls in Tamil Month of Panguni.
