Thanjavur Art Gallery

The Thanjavur Art Gallery sees its place within Thanjavur Palace. The gallery possesses the collectibles like bronze icons, stone sculptures, and other artifacts, depicting the golden era of Tamil Nadu’s history. Located well behind the bell tower, the Stone sculptures decorate the hall and the complex near Manimandapam.

Nayak’s Durbar Hall holds brilliant bronze sculptures, also there are beautiful paintings over the wall and ceiling to appreciate. Apart from this, the sculpture worth watching is the marble figurine of Raja Serfoji, popular Maratha ruler. The collectibles of the gallery date back to Chola period between the 9th and the 13th centuries AD, to the post-Chola period and the Nayak period, from the 17th to the 18th century AD, also there are some from the Pallava period. The Tanjore glass paintings in the gallery are worth giving time.
