Subramanya Temple – Kangeyanallur
Travel for 6.5 km from Vellore to Kangeyanallur, to reach the ancient Subramanya Swamy Temple. The temple worships Lord Murugan, also named as Kangeyan. The prime deity of the temple, Lord Subramanya can be seen standing with his consorts Valli and Devasena in wedding form. The temple holds various stories about its existence, construction, and importance. The local peoples tell stories about the six-headed god Kangeyan and his birth. The temple has a huge five-tier Rajagopura, beautifully carved with the religious figurines. There are two entrances to the temple. The God Vinayaka makes his place in the temple as Sundara Vinayaka. Other gods worshipped in this temple are Kasi Viswanatha, Visalakshi, Saraswathi, Lakshmi, Sun, Veerabadra and many more. Festivals- The temple commences annual gatherings in February/March, Vaikasi Visakam in May/June and Thai Poosam in January/February. nearby place to visit- Variyar’s Knowledge center.
