Sri Swayambulinga Swamy Temple

Travel for 52 km from Kanyakumari to reach the stunning coastal village o Uvari, where the popular Sri Swayambulinga Swamy Temple is situated. The holy temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. The main deity is Swayambunathar meaning self-existing. The Goddess worshipped in this temple is Brahma Sakthi. Also, the things that attract everyone’s attention are the four natural springs near the seashore, all spraying fine drinking water. The Kadamba tree present here is considered sacred and worshipped as well. The temple holds sacred beliefs of the people behind its existence. This temple sees amazing phenomenon when the Sun rays fall directly on the deity throughout Margazhi month, December-January, the maximum among all the other temples. The local people have great believed in the god and believe that the presiding deity cancer all the chronic diseases. Festivals- The temple commences grand gathering and celebration during 3 days Vaikashi Vishakam (May-June), Thai Poosam (January-February), and Panguni Uthiram (March-April).
