Thillai Nataraja Temple aka Chidambaram temple is a sacred Hindu temple located in the town of Chidambaram, in Tamil Nadu. The temple worships Lord Shiva in the form of Nataraja, a cosmic dancer form of the god. The temple is been looked upon for its uniqueness of method of worshipping, architecture, sculpture and performance art, and has been influencing people for decades. The temple has seen various ruling dynasties like Pallava, Chola, Pandya, Vijayanagara, Chera, etc, so the temple influences all. There have been numerous renovations in the temple over time. The temple is thought to be constructed in the 12th and 13th centuries. The temple also sees Lord Shiva in two other forms- Lingam and an aether space classical element. The temple holds many sacred stories behind its existence and worshipping the deity. Puja timings- The temple performs puja 6 times a day, which starts with the dawn and ends up late at the night till 10 pm. Attending these religious rituals are a unique experience in itself. Devotees believe that the entire world sleeps with the god.
