Schwartz Church
The Schwartz church in Thanjavur is seen among the oldest churches of India.
The church sees its existence from 1779, from the efforts by an Indian king, Maratha ruler Sarfoji II, who had great inclination for Christianity.
The Church was earlier known as the Big Church.
Prussian Lutheran missionary Rev Friedrich Schwartz spent his life there, teaching kids and preaching religion.
The Church houses a marble installation depicting the death of Schwartz giving his final blessings to the king and others.
The Church dignifies the love and harmony between two religion.
