Saraswati Mahal Library
Saraswati Mahal Library is a repository of cultural charm and archaic knowledge in the Thanjavur district of Tamil Nadu. The Serfoji Sarasvati Mahal is the inimitable Medieval libraries of the world. It has the treasure trove of culture inherited from the dynasties of Thanjavur (Marathas and Nayaks). The range of collectibles starts from books to manuscripts, tarampatras maps to paintings all reminding of the rich Indian culture and glorious past. The significant attraction here is the Sound and light show conducted in the evening at around 6 PM to advocate the historic and cultural significance of Thanjavur. The Sanskrit Manuscript Collection here dates back to the 16th century A.D. It has been awarded as ‘most remarkable library in India’ by The Encyclopedia of Britannica.
