Rollapadu Wildlife Sanctuary

Wildlife Sanctuary in Rollapadu is a renowned sanctuary situated at about a distance of 60 km from Kurnool district near the area of Nandikotkuru in the Indian province of Andhra Pradesh. In 1988, the Wildlife Sanctuary of Rollapadu was built with the intention of providing protection for the Great Indian Bustard and Lesser Florican species, which were then endemic. It is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Kurnool. This wildlife sanctuary covers a massive area of about 614 square kilometers and houses many birds and reptiles. It offers tourists a wild, beautiful, nature-friendly journey amid a variety of species of flora and fauna.

The sanctuary of Rollapadu is a dry grassland region that offers a unique site for the sanctuary. At a distance of 3 km from the village of Rollapadu (7 km from the sanctuary), there is also a large lake called Alaganuru Reservoir. Alaganuru Reservoir is the base location of migratory birds and also a must-visit site.

The best season to visit this place is between October and December, which is the monsoon and post-monsoon season. This is the season when the migratory birds dwell in the location. The main sanctuary and bird sanctuary usually takes about two hours to visit. The sanctuary is also surrounded by a small bird museum, a guest house and a watchtower.
