Raja Vishal’s Garh

Raja Vishal’s Garh aka Raja Vishal Ka Garh or Vaishali Garh is one of the top tourist places to be visited in Vaishali. The Palace is a huge mound of dimension 6 ft x 10 ft high. The Palace is considered to be the ‘Mother of Parliament’ in Bihar. The place holds one of the first parliaments of ancient India, where more than seven thousand Licchavi’s representatives of the federal assembly gathered to legislate and discuss the problems of the day. The historical monument is now seen by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI). The Palace is famed for revealing many items related to the earliest human settlement during excavation. The excavations offered Gold coins, precious jewels, terracotta figurines, utensils, and deer horns, etc. The area is a fine example of the early fine settlements in India, which is evident from the fine drainage system for a free flow of water, revealed on excavation. Raja Vishal ka Garh spreads over 81 acres of land. The recent excavations revealed a 50-meter-long and 21-meter-high mud rampart dated back in the late phase of the Mauryan period (321-185 BC) and Shunga period (185-73 BC) and a brick fortification that runs above the rampart.
