Kutralanathar Temple – Courtallam
The Kutralanathar Temple aka Thirukkutralanathar is a beautiful temple at Tenkasi worshipping Lord Shiva. The temple is famous for its beautiful architecture, its history, and the unique location. The temple campus spreads over 3.5 acres of land with a picturesque landscape. The temple is believed to be as old as 2thousand years and holds great religious importance among the people of the country. The main deities of the temple are- Lord Shiva and Devi Parvati. The temple is also among the Shakti Peethas. There is an idol of Nandi facing the deity.
There are many religious stories associated with the temple. The temple is conch shaped and the people believe that there are fingerprints of Agastha Muni over the Shivlinga. The temple is regarded as one among the five Pancha Sabha Kshetram of Lord Shiva. So there is a lot to see and explore in this temple. The temple commences annual festivals at- Purattasi Navarathri for Parasakti in September/October, Brahmotsavam in October/November, Margazhi Tiruvadhirai in December/January, Thai float competition in January/February and Panguni Uthiram in March/April.
