The beauty of the Courtallam fall can be imagined by its popular name- ‘Spa of South’. Just 7kms from Tenkasi is this mesmerizing waterfall. This famous fall is a gift of Chittar river, which cascades down from the height of 92meters to make 9 waterfalls of Courtallam. The waterfall has maximum visitors during summer. No one of the area can resist dipping in the waters of the fall. The popular name “Spa” has a deep meaning in itself. The water of the river flow crossing many medicinal plants in the way and carry their properties with her to the fall. This is the reason why people love to flock here frequently. Among the Nine falls of the river, the largest one is the Main falls or Peraruvi. The waterfall from an incredible height of 60 meters to make a thundering water stream. The Pongumakadal rock comes to the rescue and slows down the pace of the water, to make it safe and accessible to the tourists. Nearby places to visit- You can visit the sacred Shiva temple- The Kutralanathar Temple near the fall. Addition beauty is the Chitraruvi or Small falls, which takes its place just above the Main falls. The small bunch of stairs takes to this mesmerizing fall. This fall is again safe for bathing and relaxing. The bath areas for men and women have been separated for ease. Chitraruvi then makes a way for Shenbagadevi falls and Thenaruvi waterfalls. Shenbagadevi Falls or Chembakkadevi Falls tips over the Chitraruvi falls / Small falls. The water of the Shenbagadevi falls, has to fall from the height of 40 feet to create a cinematic view. Shenbaga trees accompany the fall all the way. This fall can prove some dangerous, so has restricted entry. Nearby places to visit- Shenbagadevi Amman temple can be visited near the fall. The purest of all the falls is the Honey Falls or Thenaruvi, which is just 1 km from Shenbagadevi Falls. The two large stones open up the way for the river to fall from 40 meters and create this beautiful waterfall. The fall derived its name from the abundance of bee and their hives in this area. This fall also makes some dangerous spots for the tourists so has a restricted entry as well.
