Kolkata Police Museum
Located in Acharya Prafulla Chandra Roy Road, The Kolkata Police Museum is an important place to be visited in Kolkata. The ones looking to explore the history of the cops, their duties, and their struggles must visit this place.
The museum holds the collectibles as the olden arms and ammunition of the policemen, which were seized during the Indian Freedom Movement in its early days. Apart from the pre-independent era collectibles, the museum has been upgraded and also sees the modern repertoire of the present Police force.
The museum also has a unique collectible- 64 files related to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose and his family members.
The museum also has an outdoor arena explaining the role of police in society. Fake Currency Identification, Traffic Control System, Sound Pollution & Security and Communication System of the police.
The museum also holds an Antique statue of Lord Vishnu from 9th – 10th century AD which was recovered by Detective Department. It also has a unique Book Bomb designed to kill D.H. Kingsford, Chief Presidency Magistrate in Calcutta.
Another yet important attraction here is the three-wheeled motorcycle used by the Calcutta Police before independence and The Bomb dropped by the Japanese on Calcutta during World War II.
