Sri Kasi Viswanathar Temple aka Ulagamman Temple is one of the most talked-about temples in Tamil Nadu, as the gopuras of the temple are ranked as the second largest of the state. The temple worships Kasi Viswanathar or Lord Shiva and is believed to be auto emerged from the ground. This temple holds importance no less than Kasi, hence also termed as the Kasi of South. The Chittar river flowing nearby too holds equal importance as the river Ganga. the people often consider the place as mini Kasi.
The temple has shrines of many Gods and Goddess. There are finely crafted idols of Siva, Amman, Murugan, Veerabhadra, Nataraja, Rathi-Manmatha, Thirumal, and Kali Devi. The temple also attracts tourists because of its musical pillars. The pillars are said to release beautiful music on tapping. The architecture of the temple is adorable, constructed in the Dravidian style of architecture, the temple looks beautiful as a whole. The Rajagopuram enhances the beauty and charm of the temple. Standing 180 feet tall, this Gopuram gives a birds-eye view of the city. The temple commences many celebrations all round the year. The celebrations here are grand and unique.
